OMA: A Hidden Greek Haven Above Borough Market

Tucked discreetly above its sister restaurant Agora, OMA is a Greek-inspired taverna that feels like a well-kept secret—if you can find the right entrance. Once upstairs, you’re met with an atmosphere of understated elegance: pale stone surfaces, rich dark woods, and lime-washed walls in soothing eucalyptus tones. The open kitchen at the heart of the space invites you to witness the magic of live-fire cooking, while window seats offer a charming view over the bustling market below.

The menu is a modern ode to Greek cuisine, reimagined by head chef Jorge Paredes (ex-Sabor) with masterful technique and bold flavors. The journey begins with housemade bagels from OMA’s basement bakery, infused with wild garlic and paired with silky salt cod labneh crowned with XO-style frizzled onions. From there, expect a symphony of small and ‘not small’ plates—think lobster bisque-filled borek, charred squid skewers, and the unmissable giouvetsi, where orzo is lovingly bathed in beef fat, slow-cooked oxtail, and bone marrow.
