Built in France in 1991 and last renovated in 2022, Le Ponant is the world's first sailing yacht to earn a Relais & Châteaux designation — a standard that has put Paris townhouses and Tuscan villas on the map, now applied to 276 feet of three-masted schooner carrying 1,212 square metres of sail. At 32 guests with a crew of 34, the ratio tells you what kind of voyage this is. Sixteen staterooms with marble bathrooms and private balconies sit below deck in the maritime tradition, while the Sun Deck and spa sit above the waterline with the Aegean or the Côte d'Azur spread out beyond. Weather permitting, the engine cuts and Le Ponant moves under sail alone — guests receive a fuel rebate credited to their onboard account when it does. Currently sailing the Cyclades, the Ionian, and the French Riviera.
