1952 FERRARI ARNO XI HYDROPLANE

Not known by many, but back in the '50s, Ferrari powered a powerful hydroplane for one and only purpose: breaking the World Speed Record on the water.
The project was proposed only to Enzo Ferrari by a racing champion Achille Castoldi with the objective to shatter the speed record in the 800-kg class. Ferrari decided to support the project and sent his team once he discovered that the new boat's upper body was painted in his signature Rossa Corso red. The collaborative effort increased the output from 550 to 600 hp resulted in a new record set of 150.49 mph - the one that still stands to this day. Today, this one of a kind boat is undergoing a complete restoration by Ferrari Classiche and is available for sale. With the boat, the lucky buyer will get a complete history archive that includes photos, handwritten notes from Ferrari's engineers, and a copy of the U.I.M. record certification that attests to Castoldi's 1953 speed record.
