Young Woman and the Sea Trailer

Gertrude Ederle, living in New York with her family of German immigrants, witnessed a tragic ferry fire at the age of nine, where most of the victims were women who couldn’t swim. This event drives her to train rigorously, eventually becoming a three-time swimming medalist at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. Not satisfied with her achievements, Gertrude sets her sights on becoming the first woman to swim across the English Channel, which only five men had accomplished before her.
