FLOATING STATION CONCEPT TO CLEAN UP OUR OCEANS

If you haven’t yet heard of the 8th Continent concept by Lenka Petrakova, then you are missing out on what may potentially become responsible for cleaning up the world’s oceans. This ambitious concept proposes to solve a massive pollution problem that plagues the Earth’s oceans. The 8th Continent concept was created with a mission to remove garbage from the ocean. This design collects plastic debris from the ocean’s surface while breaking it down into recyclable material. Awarded the 2020 Grand Prix Award for architecture and innovation, this structure is designed to move through the Pacific ocean and is composed of five primary sections, including living quarters and research and education center. The 8th Continent is created to function on energy collected from both wind and tidal sources, making the floating station self-sufficient.
