The Talisker Xpedition Oak series is an altogether new adventure: a whisky molded by the elements. The series was created to honor wild whisky production with a range of uncommon aged single malt scotches that have been molded by nature and finished in casks that include staves that have travelled through the wilderness to show a really rare and distinctive whisky. A sweet, rich intensity is introduced with a fresh, balancing blast of ocean salt spray after a smooth texture and a lively, juicy start. Before Talisker's peppery warmth envelops the palate, the impression becomes gently drying. Overall, it's mesmerizing, with a smooth, rich flavour that's great to drink neat. Overall, it's mellow and peppery, with a fruity top note of bruised apple and a silky, fragrant hint of wax. Notes of canvas and varnished wood blend with nautical hints of sea air and warm sand, all whirling over a subtly smoky and waxy foundation beneath these fragrances.
