Taktsang Big Sur is a unique sanctuary set on a private 9.5-acre promontory in the heart of Big Sur. Inspired by a Himalayan monastery, it offers breathtaking views of the dramatic coastline. Originally conceived as a hotel lobby by Richard Clements in 1970, it later transformed into a full-fledged residence under architect Mickey Muennig's guidance in the 1990s. The central "great room" features concrete pillars, a two-story stone fireplace, and a captivating glass pyramid ceiling. Upstairs, an open kitchen with ocean views is a centerpiece, while the master wing has a bedroom with a sunken tub and a meditation cave. Expansive decks, gardens, and terraces complete this unique haven.
