Platypus Craft Semi-Submersible Catamaran

The Platypus Craft Semi-Submersible Catamaran is an innovative vessel that brings underwater exploration to a broader audience. Over a decade in the making, this 28-foot catamaran features a unique center seating section, or “basket,” that lowers into the water, allowing passengers to explore beneath the surface without requiring diving certification. Equipped with simple breathing devices, the Platypus offers a safe and accessible underwater experience. Powered by electric outboards from Norwegian startup Envoy, the catamaran cruises at 15 knots with a top speed of 25 knots. When the basket is lowered, the speed reduces to 3-5 knots, offering a serene and immersive journey. With a range of 30 to 80 miles, this semi-submersible catamaran is perfect for both adventure seekers and those looking to explore marine environments comfortably. After years of testing, production is set to begin soon, marking an exciting new chapter in marine exploration.
