Paul Nicklen Photography

A Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist, Paul Nicklen has spent over two decades documenting the beauty and misery of our world. A true man of the sea, Nicklen is particularly prepared to create his kind of documentary photography, which both informs and elicits an emotional response from wild subjects in challenging environments. His work transports viewers to an underwater ocean world rarely seen by the public.

He has also received the Natural Resources Defense Council's BioGems Visionary Award for his vocal advocacy in the conservation field. In addition, Nicklen was recently awarded an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Victoria for his contributions to climate change photography. Paul Nicklen, a co-founder of the non-profit SeaLegacy, is writing a new chapter in the annals of ocean conservation. Sea Legacy empowers millions of people to stand up and speak out for the precious areas threatened by climate change through visual storytelling.
