Ocean Eye- A Home Framed by the Sea

Perched above Costa Rica’s coastline, Ocean Eye by Benjamin Garcia Saxe is a residence designed to connect directly with its environment.

The home is positioned on a steep hillside, maximizing views of the Pacific while minimizing its footprint on the land. Large floor-to-ceiling windows frame expansive ocean vistas, while cross-ventilation and overhangs ensure natural cooling in the tropical climate. Built with simple, durable materials, the structure blends efficiency with openness, creating a space that feels both grounded and elevated. Interiors are straightforward, flexible, and functional, designed to highlight the landscape rather than overshadow it.

The project demonstrates how architecture can offer comfort, sustainability, and clarity without excess—just the essentials: light, air, and uninterrupted views of the sea.
