Museum of Underwater Sculpture Ayia Napa (MUSA)

The Museum of Underwater Sculpture Ayia Napa (MUSAN), which showcases the work of sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, opened to the public in August 2021. It is advertised as the Mediterranean Sea's first underwater museum. The museum, which is 200 meters off the shore of Aiya Napa, a popular tourist destination in southern Cyprus, is designed to mimic an underground forest, with sculptures of children playing among mysterious characters. The art also intends to raise awareness about conservation and act as a new ecosystem for ocean life to thrive, according to the museum. Each sculpture is expected to be blanketed in marine biomass over time, making each work even more stunning. Guests who are participating in a scuba diving or snorkelling expedition are welcome to visit the museum. Guests must book in advance with one of the neighbouring registered diving schools in order to visit.
