Established in 2015, Joker and the Thief Playing Card is an Australian based Cardistry lifestyle brand. Following the successes of the Joker and the Thief series, they came up with an idea to change tack and develop another original design. The plan was to develop a 100% custom, nautical-themed deck. When they came across Brazilian artist Gustavo Magalhaes, it was clear that his style would perfectly compliment the brand vision for Seafarers Playing Cards.

The idea was to create a classic deck of cards reminiscent of the vintage United States Playing Card Co. designs. The intention to proceed with this route was simply because classic designs would survive the test of time. Gus was instrumental in striking the balance between classic design and our signature vibe. It's low-key, subtle, and understated. After 6 months of hard work, Seafarers finally came to fruition.
