Project Tanzanite Superyacht: Specs, Design & What to Expect in 2026

Project Tanzanite is set to become the largest superyacht ever built by Amels, marking a significant milestone for the Dutch shipyard and the custom yacht market as a whole. Measuring 120 meters and featuring a five-deck layout, this full-custom build brings together high-performance engineering, modern design, and expansive luxury.

With delivery expected in 2026, Project Tanzanite is already generating interest for its scale, diesel-electric propulsion system, and sleek Espen Øino exterior. Here’s what we know so far.

Project Tanzanite is being constructed by Amels / Damen Yachting, one of the most respected names in large yacht construction. The hull was built in Galati, Romania, and has since been transferred to Vlissingen, Netherlands, for outfitting and final completion.

This project highlights Damen Yachting’s full-custom capabilities, with more than 1,000 craftsmen involved during peak phases of construction.

What to Expect from the Design

Project Tanzanite combines a sleek, contemporary profile with expansive onboard living. With exterior styling by Espen Øino, the yacht features flowing lines, generous use of glass, and open deck spaces that balance privacy with panoramic sea views.

Interior designer Zuretti is known for refined, high-end finishes — early renderings suggest a mix of neutral palettes, rich textures, and architectural details, including:

  • A custom marble staircase
  • Glass elevator connecting all decks
  • Lounges and dining spaces designed for both formal and relaxed use
  • Spa and wellness areas likely integrated into the lower decks

Outdoor spaces are equally prioritized, with two pools, helipads doubling as entertainment areas, and multiple terraces for al fresco dining and sunbathing. While it’s built to entertain, the yacht also emphasizes comfort and quiet for long voyages.

When Will Project Tanzanite Launch?

Project Tanzanite is currently in the advanced stages of construction. After the hull was launched in 2023 and transferred to the Vlissingen facility, the yacht entered outfitting and sea trials began in late 2025.

Amels is targeting a delivery window in 2026, making Tanzanite one of the most anticipated launches of the year. As sea trials progress, more information on performance and final outfitting is expected to follow.

Why Project Tanzanite Matters

Project Tanzanite is notable for several reasons:

  • It will be the largest yacht Amels has built to date
  • Features a diesel-electric propulsion system with Azipods for smoother, more efficient cruising
  • Offers dual helipads, two pools, and a layout designed for extended use
  • Brings together a top-tier build team, including Espen Øino and Zuretti

As a full-custom build in the 120-meter range, it positions Amels alongside the top global builders in the large yacht segment.
