Ånderkleiva: A Coastal Headquarters by Snøhetta

Ånderkleiva, designed by Snøhetta on the island of Andørja in Norway, is the headquarters and innovation center for Magne Arvesen & Sønner, a company rooted in fishing and aquaculture.

Built into a steep, north-facing site, the structure mirrors the surrounding hillside while extending over the quay on slender corten steel supports.

Its ocean-facing façade of black glass and stainless-steel fins reflects shifting light and landscapes, creating a dynamic presence tied to its setting. Inside, private offices, a canteen, and social spaces balance focus with collaboration, while the control room anchors operations overlooking the fish pens. Materials emphasize maritime heritage—carpets from recycled fishing nets and red-orange details referencing sea buoys.

With dual access from both road and waterfront, the building unites industry, sustainability, and landscape in one cohesive design. Ånderkleiva stands as a modern workplace deeply connected to Norway’s coastal environment.
