GIGAWAVE - A WAKE-SURF BOAT THAT CREATES WAVES ON DEMAND

Called “Gigawave”, this high-powered, all-electric watercraft is able to create the biggest, tallest, and best-curling wave for the ride in the fast-growing water sport of wake surfing - a sport in which a rider trails behind a boat, riding the boat's wake without being directly pulled by the boat. Designed by New-York boat designer Matthew Blew, Gigawave 350 GW-X will feature a hull that’s designed to throw up a continuous, head-height barrel like an ocean wave allowing the surfer to ride inside it. A pair of electric motors rated at 300hp each provide the massive torque required to reshape the sea and ultra-quiet running. The top speed should be 18-22 knots, with a surfing speed of 9-14 knots and a run time of 4-5 hours. The Gigawave is expected to offer a "waves on-demand" experience and to be launched next year with a price tag of around $600,000.
